3 Practices When Under Pressure #MTIP

overwhelmed

It is easy to feel overwhelmed when we start something new or are bombarded with all the craziness this world throws our way.

In Psalms 61, King David gives us an excellent example of what to do when we feel the pressures of this life caving in.

The first step we need to do is talk to God about our anxiety.

David calls out to God for help in verses 1-2.

"From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: leads me to the rock that is higher than I." God wants us to come to Him. “The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.” Psalm‬ ‭145‬:‭18‬

The second step we see is a determination or resolution from David.

The first resolve is to abide in God's presence. Psalms 61:4 says "I will abide in thy tabernacle forever:" His second resolve is to trust in God's protection. The rest of Psalms 61:4 says "I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah."

The third actionable step we see is David singing praises. Psalms 61:8 says that he "will sing praise into thy name forever, that I may daily perform my vows." Isn't it amazing how music can uplift our heart?

"Yet the Lord will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭42‬:‭8‬ ‭

There are times in our life where we may see no light. It may seem as if there is no hope. During those bleak moments, we must determine to seek God. He is there and He does keep His Word. Keep believing and keep trusting. Make the impossible possible with God!
