How bad do you want it? #MTIP

I'll never forget sitting across the table from a teacher colleague. She wanted to know how I had lost weight. I had lost about 30 lbs at the time. I began to tell her my new lifestyle plan and she immediately looked disinterested. She said she could never give up certain foods.

I used to feel like my colleague. I thought I could never have the discipline to make good food choices. However, I saw a close friend of mine succeed in losing weight following a plan and decided that I want that too. I had a strong desire to achieve that goal.

If you want something bad enough, you will do whatever it takes to accomplish it. To succeed, there must be a daily strengthening of will.

If someone offered me a warm, fresh Spudnut (it's a south Arkansas thing), I would ask myself this question. "Do I want to wear the cute dress or eat this Spudnut?" The cute dress would win 90% of the time. I'm not perfect, I cave sometimes! 😉

Reminding myself of what I ultimately wanted, kept me resolved and focused. Whether it was losing weight or a writing goal, here are a few ways I've kept my eye on the prize . . . .

  1. Mental question or picture

  2. Physical copy of an inspiring quote or positive affirmation to pull out when doubt tries to set in (mine was kind words from an editor that enjoyed my writing)

  3. Writing a pretend letter or scenario of someone positively impacted from you achieving your goal

What are some things you do to help keep you focused on your goals?
