Blessed in 2022

Do you have a goal or word for the year?

Last year I picked the word Confidence— I knew I needed some confidence and boldness in publishing my first book.

I’ve struggled a bit in picking a word for 2022. During my devotion one morning, it finally came to me. This year my word is blessed. No matter what 2022 brings, I am blessed, and I really want to show that in my life! I want to have a blessed state of mind. I’ve decided to start a study with the beatitudes and have challenged myself to memorize them! I used to memorize Scripture all the time as a child and am hoping it won’t be too hard as a 40-year-old. 😂

This week I am starting with Matthew 1:3.

Beatitudes, Matthew 5:3

I love this verse because the best blessing of all is the gift of salvation. God saw our desperate need for a Savior and provided His Son so that we could live eternally one day with Him. Through Christ we are made rich.

2 Corinthians 8:9 says, "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich."

God blesses those that come to Him in humility and brokenness. To be poor in spirit has an air of dependence and desperation. Only God can richly satisfy our needs. Our only hope comes from God. We must, regardless of our social standing, move away from pride and haughtiness and move towards a humble dependence on God.

Psalms 34:6 says, "This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles."
